Cameras and Calories

I guess there is something to be said about having one of those crazy big digital cameras.  Look at these beautiful pictures my girlfriend took when we were at her son's third birthday party last weekend.

Gosh, I know I'm a tad bias, but my girls are beautiful.

On another note I lost some weight this week!  I am 5lbs from hitting my first goal and then another 5lbs to hitting my ultimate goal.  Hooray!  This calorie counting stuff isn't so bad!

I have also made it to the gym twice this week, which was my goal.  Hey, I'm trying to be reasonable.  I do have two young kids at home with me and a very busy hubby.  And the girls came with me yesterday and not a single tear was shed at the nursery!  Hooray!

I think I may be changed for the best.  Not only am I watching my calorie intake, but I am making better choices, and eating a more balanced meal!

Weekends are definitely more challenging.  Fingers crossed.

Eye Opening!

So I have never counted calories before ::ducking::

Really.  I have never dieted.  I am just pretty good at eating things in moderation.  But I love to eat.  I love to cook.  I love to grocery shop.  I love to host parties so I can do all of the previously mentioned things.

If you read a few posts down you can see I just turned 30.  I am thinking that my days of never counting calories and dieting are over.

After having Big One the weight fell off.  After Little One?  Um... not so much.  I am one of the many women who feel like being pregnant gives you a license to eat whatever you want.  Hey, by all means.  But honey I am living proof of what happens.  Eight months later and 15 pounds left to lose.  Ok.  Ten to get me to pre-pregnancy weight.  Another five is where I should be.

So before I left for vacation (oh yeah, great timing) my friends told me about My Fitness Pal.  I have to admit.  It is pretty awesome.  Eye opening.  For real.  So that was two weeks ago.  One week we were on vacation.  I weighed in today.  I'm down 2.6 lbs.  Considering I have yet to make it back to the gym that is pretty darn good.

Accountability my friends.

And really very simple.  I also love that it gives me a boat load of extra calories because I'm nursing.
It is going to be a very sad day when that ends.  Not like oh my heart breaks because I'm done nursing.  More like oh my heart breaks I have to eat like a normal person again!

I'm just being honest.

So go and check it out.  It is pretty neat.  And I love that it has a free app for my iTouch.

Bostonian at heart

We do not live in Boston.  But for some reason many words that Big One says sound like she lives there.  Or used to.  Or is around someone with a Boston accent.  You get my point?

It cracks my whole family up.  Caaaar.  Togethaaaaa. Lawn Mowaaaaa.  Over Heeeeeeaaa (here).

Awesome.

Last night she sneezed and said, "I think I got allaaaagies."  Smart girl.  She is right.

HA!

Cracks. Me. Up.

Oh another note I think we have successfully transferred Little One to her crib.  No issues at all yesterday.  None.  Awesome.  She really had outgrown the Rock-n-Play.  She loves to swing her legs all the way up and smack them down.  And looooooves the mobile.  So hooray!

Vacation rundown!

The hubster got the week of the 4th off from work!  A much needed vacation as the last one he had was Christmas!

So we headed out to visit my parents and brother, aunt, uncle, cousin and her family, and some friends.  I never get to fit everyone in.  It stinks.  And with Little One taking two naps a day it makes it really difficult.  I am probably one of the only moms counting the days until she drops the first nap!

Big One playing the piano with Papa.

My girls with Nana and Papa.  Obviously Little One doesn't tolerate the eat well.  Heh.

The Hubster and Me.

Little One dancing with her Uncle.

We had a great visit.  It was nice to get a little extra sleep in the morning.  My mom kept the girls downstairs.  It was much appreciated as Little One was waking every couple of hours.  ::Yawn::

We went downtown and went through some of the little shops.  Ate at one of our favorite casual restaurants.  Also the Hubster and I got to go on a date.  Yes!  A date!  It was fabulous!  Dinner at our favorite place ever and then gelato while walking around downtown.  It was perfect.

I met up with three of my favorite girls - and forgot to take a picture - for dinner and drinks.  We are so cool we closed the place down.  At 10pm.  Heh.  I learned that two margaritas are too much for me these days.  Sad.  Even sadder?  Little One was not happy with them either.  Up. Allllll.  Night.

Big One and her cousin looking at the goats!

I was *shocked* that Big One went on - and LOVED - this ride!

Big One with Auntie and cousin!  It was HOT!

Little One with her cousin!

My girls with 13 month old friend!
On our way back home we stopped in to visit the Hubster's family and best friend (and fam).  We went to a local festival and Big One rode some rides!  I bought a couple cute hair bows for the girls.  We stayed with friends so we were actually able to carry on a full uninterrupted conversation once the girls went to bed.  It was fabulous.  We haven't seen our friends for an entire year!  We really need to be sure to not go that long again!  Before we left we went to my sister-in-law's house to drop off some belated birthday gifts and hang out.  We had a great time.

But boy am I happy to be home.  That was a lot of driving with two little ones.

Now to get my butt back in gear.  Eating healthy and I must get my butt back to the gym!

Also on the list: get rid of Big One's paci (she only gets it in bed) and get Little One transitioned from the Rock-n-Play to the crib.

I'm exhausted just thinking of those items.

Wish me luck!
